Cindy Axne Highlights Focus on Vocational, Skills Training in New Ad
Axne has fought to expand investments in skills training and apprenticeship programs in first term in Congress
A new ad released by Cindy Axne’s campaign highlights her work across the aisle to secure expanded investments for skills training programs and legislation she’s championed to help connect high schools students with local apprenticeship programs.
“I understand that college isn’t the only path to success, and am committed to making sure that every Iowan has the skills they need to get a good-paying job,” said Cindy Axne.
In Congress, Cindy Axne has fought for legislation to:
Expand the Pell Grant program to include job training programs
Create a pathways program for K-12 schools to local apprenticeship programs and internships
Increase investments in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act State Grants, Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants, and the Jobs Corps
Open existing skills training programs for servicemembers returning to civilian life to members of the reserves and Iowa National Guard.
The new ad, entitled “Skills,” is on air in both the Des Moines and Omaha markets starting today.
Justine Goulder: “I went to college. Even took out loans to pay for it. But it didn’t get me to where I wanted to be. Then I found a skills training program that paid me to work and learn. Now I have a career that I love, and I’m training others.”
Narrator: “Cindy Axne knows these programs make a real difference in people’s lives. Axne worked with both parties to expand skills training and trade school classes. And made it easier for high school graduates to find apprenticeships.”
Justine Goulder: “Cindy’s putting good-paying careers in reach of families like mine.”
Cindy Axne: “I’m Cindy Axne and I approve this message.”
