Percival Farmer: “Cindy Axne got her hands dirty and made sure Washington sent the aid we needed”
Cindy Axne was less than three months into her first term as Representative for Iowa’s Third Congressional District when devastating floods hit along the Missouri River, damaging homes, farms, and businesses in communities across her district and putting her constituents in dire need of assistance.
After personally lending a hand to those affected by the flood and securing $3 billion in federal disaster aid for the Midwest last year, Cindy Axne is reflecting on her commitment to working across the aisle for these communities in a new ad entitled “Relief.”
“I’ll work with anyone, regardless of party, to help Iowa families,” says Cindy Axne in the ad.
Cindy Axne fought to ensure funding for Iowa flood recovery was included in the 2019 federal disaster relief bill, and worked with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on her Flood Recovery Advisory Board. She has also continued to follow up with federal agencies to track flood aid reaching Iowa.
Cindy Axne also has teamed up with Iowa’s senators to craft legislation aimed at improving Army Corps authority over high-risk levees, and worked across the aisle to pass similar reforms in the House earlier this year.
“When flooding came to her district, Cindy Axne rolled up her sleeves both here in Iowa and in Washington to help,” said Cindy Axne for Congress spokesperson Jessica David. “From mucking homes to securing billions in disaster aid for the Midwest, Cindy Axne has stood up for Iowans and fought for the assistance they needed.”
The ad began airing on Saturday in the Omaha media market.
