~ Axne out-raises Young for 5th consecutive quarter ~
Des Moines, Iowa – Rep. Cindy Axne’s re-election campaign today announced the Congresswoman raised over $600,000 in the second quarter of the year, passing the $1 million benchmark for total amount raised this cycle.
“It’s very comprehensive,” Axne said. “It covers everything from almost a billion dollars to the repair of the levees, to everything from mental health support, and to making sure we can provide additional support to cover grains and bins that were lost and weren’t insured.”
During the second quarter, over 84% of individual contributions were $100 or less and the median contribution was $25. In 2018, Axne raised over $5.2 million – an Iowa Congressional record – when she defeated incumbent David Young.
During her first six months in office, Congresswoman Axne was named the most accessible member of the freshman class, having visited every county in the district each month, holding 29 town halls, and providing exemplary constituent services to all Iowans. The Congresswoman’s fundraising success is a result of real grassroots energy driven by her commitment to delivering results, ensuring the voices of all Iowans are heard in Washington and fighting to end political corruption.
“Whether it was securing $3 billion in funding to help Iowans recover from the devastating flood, holding corporations accountable for hurting hard working families, or helping constituents across the district access the federal resources they need, I’m proud to have delivered results for Iowans since day one,” said Congresswoman Axne. “I will continue to fight to end political corruption in Washington so we can tackle the issues Iowans care about, like lowering the cost of health care, ensuring everyone has access to a good-paying job, and supporting our rural communities.”
“Over the past six months, Congresswoman Axne has proven to be a voice for all Iowans, Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike,” said campaign manager Caleb Thompson. “When Congress was moving too slow to pass federal disaster aid for Iowans struggling from devastating flooding, the Congresswoman rolled up her sleeves and helped get the job done herself. That’s the kind of leadership that is driving record-breaking grassroots for support across party lines for Cindy Axne.”
