Omaha World Herald: Axne sees better life for Iowans (Letter to the editor)

I met Cindy Axne when she spoke at a luncheon I attended in October 2017. She had recently announced her run for Congress in Iowa’s 3rd District.
She talked about her parents, who raised their daughters to do things for others because “when a community does well, you all do well.” Her record of community activism and determination to find solutions to problems that not only affect her but others, too, is evidence of her strong upbringing.
At a later event, Cindy told us of her commitment to protecting access to affordable care for people with pre-existing conditions. Her opponent, David Young, has on multiple occasions voted for legislation that would make health care coverage more expensive and create barriers to coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
Two parents of two young children with cystic fibrosis shared their concerns about the devastating effect fewer health care protections would have on care for their children and others with long-term health conditions. Cindy assured them that protecting care for families like theirs was her No. 1 priority.
Cindy has a vision to make life better for all Iowans. Vote for Cindy Axne to help fix a broken Congress.
