CINDY AXNE CALLS REPUBLICAN SUPER PAC ATTACK AD A ‘TROUBLING REWARD’ FOR DAVID YOUNG’S HEALTH CARE VOTE
~ The Congressional Leadership Fund releases first attack ad against Cindy Axne ~
Des Moines, IA – Today, Cindy Axne, Democratic candidate for Iowa’s 3rd District, called a new false and misleading attack ad from the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) — Paul Ryan’s Super PAC — a ‘troubling reward’ for David Young’s last minute vote for the American Health Care Act, legislation that would have stripped healthcare from millions of Americans. The Super PAC, which publicly pulled support from the Republican Congressman over his opposition to the ACHA, has now reserved a $1 million media buy to support Congressman David Young.
“Paul Ryan’s Super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund, today made good on its promise to reward Congressman David Young for his last minute decision to vote to strip away healthcare from thousands of Iowans,” said Democratic candidate for Congress, Cindy Axne. “When Iowa voters see this false and misleading attack ad, I hope they remember it came at the expense of their healthcare.”
During the height of the healthcare debate in Congress, David Young publicly said he was going to vote against the American Health Care Act. Immediately afterwards, Paul Ryan’s Super PAC – the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) – very publicly threatened to pull its support from Young and closed its field office in Iowa’s 3rd District. The Congressional Leadership Fund, which released its first 3rd District attack ad today, is now slated to spend over $1 million in this race.
