West Des Moines, IA – Cindy Axne, a fifth-generation Iowan, small business owner, and parent, has declared victory in the hotly contested IA-03 Democratic primary. Cindy will now advance to the general election where she’ll face Republican Rep. David Young in November.
Cindy released the following statement upon her primary victory.
“One thing is clear: Iowans are working hard – we’re doing our part and playing by the rules, but the decisions being made in Washington help the special interests at our expense. We deserve better.
“Over the past year I’ve traveled across Southwestern Iowa, visiting every county in this District, and listening to folks. In total, I’ve held 100 meet and greets where people told me their stories and I listened. They talked to me about their struggles to afford health care, to find good paying jobs that support a family, to retire with dignity.
“I’m interested in solving these problems, not helping the special interests. And, unlike Republican Rep. David Young, I’m not taking corporate PAC money because I’m answering only to the people.
“Between now and November, I will continue my travels across the District. I look forward to continuing to listen to folks, discuss solutions to the challenges we face, and asking for your support.”
