Yesterday’s tragic event marked the 18th school shooting we’ve seen this year. As a mom of two boys in junior high and high school, every time I hear of another shooting, it reminds me that my boys could be next, and that is a thought too hard to bear. One that no parent should have to endure. It’s time that our Representatives in Washington take action to protect our children.
That starts with standing up to special interest groups like the NRA and passing meaningful gun reform including universal background checks for all gun sales and a ban on the sale of assault weapons. The number one priority for our elected officials should be protecting our citizens, particularly our children. It’s time they do their job and stop these attacks on our communities, our families and our kids.
